Why we don’t offer “free” eye exams

Our priority is to make you feel supported, informed, and confident about what comes next. We take the time to listen, ask the right questions, and clearly explain your options so you leave with a clear plan that fits your needs and your budget.

Quality eye health assessment takes time and expertise. Our focus is on preventing and treating vision problems with lasting solutions, not quick fixes that only temporarily mask issues.

Our optometrists spend time getting to know you, your lifestyle, and what matters most. That deeper understanding lets us accurately identify what’s affecting your vision and recommend the best course of action - whether glasses, contact lenses, or a referral for surgical options. Your eyesight is as important to us as it is to you.

Preparing for your exam

An eye exam is a routine, comfortable process., A few tips:
  • Be honest and thorough when we take your health history, every detail helps.

  • Don’t worry about mistakes or changing answers; it’s normal.

  • If your vision seems momentarily worse during testing, remain calm, that can be part of the process.

  • Ask questions, we’re here to help and you’re in good hands.

What to expect

A comprehensive exam typically takes 30–60 minutes and follows a structured process to assess vision and eye health, including:

  • Full eye and medical history review

  • Eye coordination and binocular vision checks

  • Refraction to determine prescription needs

  • External and internal eye health assessment

  • Peripheral vision testing

  • Screening for glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration

  • 3D retinal imaging

  • Additional tests as needed (stereo vision, colour vision, Amsler grid)

  • A clear discussion of the best options for you, glasses, contact lenses, or referral for further care

We’ll explain our findings, recommend next steps, and arrange any follow-up needed to ensure your vision and eye health are optimised.
